Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya's most accessible and rewarding national parks—famous for its alkaline lake, rhino sanctuary, diverse wildlife (including the Big Five in a compact area), and stunning birdlife.
It's a UNESCO tentative World Heritage site and a top spot for rhinos, giraffes, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and over 400 bird species. The park covers about 188 km², fully fenced for safety, and is just 3–3.5 hours' drive northwest of Nairobi.

Drive to Nakuru (~3 hours). Scenic route via Naivasha; optional quick stop at viewpoint or Great Rift Valley escarpment.
Arrive at main gate (Lanet or Nderit). Start morning game drive. Focus on open plains for rhinos, giraffes, zebras. Head to lake viewpoints.
Continue drives—explore Baboon Cliff (leopards), Rhino Sanctuary, or woodland loops. Picnic lunch.
Afternoon game drive—prime for predators as temps cool. More birding/wetlands.
Exit park and drive back to Nairobi (arrive by evening). Drop-off at hotel.
